Peak of Rainy Season in Indonesia

Jakarta, The rainy season in Indonesia will reach its peak intensity at the end of January until February 2016. This statement was made by BMKG (The Agency of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics of the Republic of Indonesia) on Friday (22/1) at BMKG office, Jakarta. 

BMKG has indicate phenomenon’s that make this peak situation is favorable. Some of those phenomenons are the active Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) in Indonesian region, strong westerly wind and active Asian Monsoon.

BMKG predict that in the next few days, heavy rain will occurs in Indonesia area especially at northern and southern Sumatera, Java, Bali, NTB, central and southern Sulawesi, central of Maluku and in the central of Papua. Furthermore, BMKG also predict that high wave will occur in Java and NTB waters, Natuna ocean, Makassar straits, Sulawesi ocean, Kep.Sangihe waters, Maluku ocean, northern and western Papua waters.

The agency has issued a warning for public, especially at disaster- prone area, to anticipate rain with strong wind, flooding and landslide. (kd)
