The warmth of high summer ended in Germany punctually for the start of autumn. The months of September and October were comparatively cool across the country and there was little sunshine. Above all, it was again too dry, as had been the case for all months since February. It was not until November that precipitation and also sunshine increased and temperatures were unusually high in some cases. When compared to the long-term averages, autumn overall was very mild for the whole period, whereas the quantity of precipitation and duration of sunshine only produced minimal deviations.
