Fifteenth Session of the WMO Commission for Agricultural Meteorology

About 120 representatives from 62 countries around the world and international organizations concluded a week-long meeting of the Fifteenth Session of the WMO Commission for Agricultural Meteorology in Belo Horizonte, by pledging improved agrometeorological services to assist the farming community around the world to cope with the increasing impacts of climate variability and climate change. The Commission identified several priorities for the future work of the Commission from 2010 to 2014 and appointed 64 experts from 41 countries to various Expert Terms of the Commission, including 21 women, highest ever number of women experts serving in any of the eight Technical Commissions of WMO. The Commission elected Dr Byong Lee (Republic of Korea) as President and Dr (Ms) Federica Rossi (Italy) as Vice-President.
