The world’s top meteorological satellite training experts are meeting this week at the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology to discuss the next generation of high-resolution satellites. This new system will offer high-resolution imagery and revolutionize how meteorological services around the globe inform and prepare the communities they serve: from day-to-day forecasts to decadal climate predictions.

Officially called the Eighth Virtual Laboratory for Training and Education in Satellite Meteorology Management Group Meeting (VLMG-8), the event includes participants from Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Japan, Kenya, Morocco, Niger, Oman, Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, South Africa, the United States and the European Union.

The VLab VLMG is a joint effort between the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS).
