World Meteorological Congress elects Executive Council

The XVI Congress of the World Meteorological Organization today elected the members of the Executive Council, which will serve for the next four years. The Council is composed of 37 directors of National Meteorological or Hydrometeorological Services, serving in an individual capacity.

The Executive Council meets annually and will hold its 2011 session 6-8 June, immediately following the quadrennial Congress. It implements decisions of the WMO Congress, coordinates the programmes, examines the utilization of budgetary resources, considers and takes action on recommendations of regional associations and technical commissions and guides their work programme.
