Polar Prediction School

The 2016 Polar Prediction School will be held in the Arctic at the Abisko Field Station in Sweden, from 5 to 15 April (next year).

The school, sponsored by the World Weather Research Programme (WWRP), WCRP and the Bolin Centre, is part of the WWRP Polar Prediction Project and the WCRP Polar Climate Predictability Initiative.

The Polar Prediction course will provide training for 30 doctoral candidates and early career post-doctoral polar scientists. It will focus on topics such as polar mesoscale atmospheric processes; sea ice prediction, near term ensemble prediction, and seasonal-to-decadal climate variability and prediction in the polar regions. The curricula will combine lectures on key areas relevant for polar prediction and field observation and modelling exercises to foster an interactive learning environment.

The Abisko Field Station in Sweden will host the Polar Prediction School

Anyone interested in participating in the Polar Prediction School should complete the Expression of Interest form by 15 May 2015. Limited travel support may be available, particularly for participants from developing countries.
