Following on from the first event in this discussion series, where the topic of tipping elements, irreversibility, and abrupt change in the Earth system was introduced (video here), we now present an event focused on the role of the Amazon.

The event will include two presentations:

  • Is the Amazon Rainforest near a Tipping Point? – Carlos Nobre
  • Amazon Forest dieback in CMIP6 Earth System Models – Peter Cox

The presentations will be followed by 20 minutes of formal discussions and, for those who wish to stay on, a further 25 minutes of informal discussions.

This discussion series is a joint activity of Analysis, Integration, and Modelling of the Earth System (AIMES), the Earth Commission, and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Safe Landing Climates Lighthouse Activity.

For more information and to register please see the event registration page.

The event will be recorded.
