Global Cryosphere Watch (GCW) Snow Watch Team, 3rd Meeting

Start date

17 July 2019

End date

19 July 2019
Montreal, Canada

The 3rd meeting of the Snow Watch Team will focus on assessing progress since its 2nd meeting, in 2016, and identify priority activities for the next two years, as defined in the meeting agenda.

The Snow Watch Team of the Global Cryosphere Watch (GCW) focuses on assessing the maturity, accuracy and homogeneity of snow on the ground and solid precipitation observing systems, data, products, and information, and identifying priority issues and actions for refining the observing requirements and improving observations and products at global, regional and national scales, in-situ and remotely sensed.

The team liaises with the international cryosphere community and the WMO Programmes to maintain up-to-date knowledge of solid precipitation and snow cover monitoring technologies, programmes, datasets and products, and facilitates the development of specific products, made available through the GCW Website, such as anomalous snow cover conditions, extreme events, annual assessments.
