The Bureau of Meteorology today issued its monthly and seasonal climate outlooks for May to July 2015, which suggests wetter than normal conditions for most of Australia during this period.
The outlook for the next three months indicates:
- Wetter than normal likely over most of Australia, except for the tropical north and Tasmania.
- Warmer than average days likely over the tropical north, southeast and far southwest of Australia. Cooler than normal days more likely for northwest to central Western Australia, extending to western New South Wales.
- Climate influences are warmer than normal sea surface temperatures in the Indian Ocean and waters surrounding much of the Australian coastline. Models suggest El Niño is likely to develop over the coming one to two months in the tropical Pacific.
