The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has released a collection of images captured by its Himawari-8 satellite, which was launched on 7 October 2014 and is currently in the in-orbit commissioning phase.
JMA’s website features comparisons of images from the current MTSAT-2 satellite and Himawari-8, and provides image animations targeting typhoons and volcanic eruptions. Visit the website to check out Himawari-8’s potential prior to the start of its operation in mid-2015.
