The Prime Ministers’ Office in collaboration with Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) organized an executives’ workshop for the Chief Executive Officers of institutions owning meteorological stations in Tanzania. The workshop was held at Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha region on 30th April 2015. While officially opening the workshop, Dr. Florence Turuka, the permanent secretary of the Prime Ministers’ Office and Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the Implementation of GFCS in Tanzania has called for collaboration among institutions owning weather stations within the country in order to enhance countrys’ capacity on collection of weather and climate data, adaptation and mitigation of climate variability and change as well as strengthening early warning systems. ‘The aim of this workshop is to come up with a common understanding on how to integrate all climate stations in the country in order to enhance data bank of the country and agree on data sharing for socio-economic development, protection of lives and properties of Tanzanian People’ Said Dr. Turuka.
