Korea Meteorological Agency award for WMO project coordination head

Jae-cheol Nam, Vice Adminstrator of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), on behalf of Cho Kyeung Kyu, Minister of Environment of the Republic of Korea, handed over a Certificate of Recognition to Ms Ayșe Altunoğlu, head of WMO's project coordination unit.

The certificate recognizes Ms Altunoğlu's remarkable effort and contribution to international meteorological services.  KMA is part of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Korea and finances various projects in WMO. These projects are instrumental in building of capacities of meteorological services in developing countries.

Projects supported by WMO include a climate data restoration project in Uzbekistan, establishment of a climate prediction analysis system in Rwanda and Uganda, and supporting disaster risk reduction in Lao People’s Democratic Republic through a satellite data receiving system for the communication ocean and meteorological satellite.
