The Southern Africa Regional Climate Outlook Forum has issued an updated seasonal outlook based on the subsiding El Niño, which has impacted weather patterns during the rainfall season, which ends in most parts of the region during April to June.
The bulk of continental Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Madagascar are likely to receive normal to below-normal rainfall during April to June 2016. However, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), most of Angola, Tanzania, northern Zambia, northern Malawi, eastern Mozambique and eastern coast of South Africa are more likely to receive normal to above-normal rainfall.
The Update was issued after a review which took place in Harare, Zimbabwe, from 29 to 30 March.
