A special issue of the WMO Bulletin has been released to support the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Board on Climate Services (IBCS-1). The 1-5 July meeting is being held in Geneva to advance international cooperation on developing and using operational climate services to support decision-making in the face of climate variability and change.
The articles contributed to the Bulletin explore a number of key challenges to ensuring effective climate services. They address funding opportunities for climate services, the provision of localized climate information services for agriculture, reducing disaster risks, the application of climate science to benefit society, and other issues. The articles have been written by Norway, China, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Bank and other contributors to climate services.
The Special Bulletin is available in English here; other language versions will be available shortly.
