The M2 marine weather buoy in the Irish Sea set two new records on Dec 30 last in high seas associated with Storm Frank. At 6AM a 6.2m record was set for for Significant Wave Height*, breaking the previous record of 5.8m set on 27 Dec 2013. According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute statistics, 2015 was a record warm year in the most parts of the country. Lapland was the only province in which the year was not quite the warmest but in the shared second place. The mean temperature in 2015 was 4.2°C, which is about 1.9°C warmer than the long-term average i.e. the period 1981–2010. As regards the whole country, only June and July were colder than average. On December 30, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) stated the main weather and climate characteristics that have shaped 2015 across China at a press conference. Firstly, the annual average temperature is above normal. As of December 28, the annual average temperature was 10.6℃, 0.9℃ above the historical average. China on Tuesday launched its most sophisticated observation satellite, Gaofen-4, as part of the country's high-definition (HD) earth observation project. Gaofen-4 was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan at 00:04 a.m. aboard a Long March-3B carrier rocket. Today’s release of the Bureau of Meteorology's Annual Climate Statement confirms the dominant influence of El Niño on Australia’s climate during 2015, with warmer than average temperatures recorded across the country. Rainfall was well below average in southwest Western Australia, southeast South Australia, western to central Victoria, much of Tasmania and a large area of inland Queensland. On Dec.30, China Meteorological Administration(CMA) published the survey result for the public satisfaction of meteorological service in 2015. The result shows the public satisfaction degree of 2015 is 87.3 points, 1.5 points more than 2014, create new high since 2011. This survey finished by CMA and National Bureau of Statistics covers China's 31 provinces and 40020 persons.
