The World Weather Research Programme (WWRP) develops, shares and applies knowledge that contributes to societal well-being by helping individuals, businesses and institutions manage weather-related risks to safety and property
The Programme, working in partnership with other international initiatives, ensures the implementation of a research strategy towards the seamless prediction of the Earth system from minutes to months.
The WWRP focuses on key scientific areas:
- numerical experimentation (in collaboration with the world climate research programme);
- nowcasting and mesoscale;
- data assimilation;
- tropical meteorology;
- societal and economic research applications; and
- predictability and ensemble forecasting.
