Careers in Meteorology

In its quest to Engage Youth on Weather and Climate as per the 2014 World Meteorological Day theme, WMO with financial assistance from the Government of Canada, updated its Careers in Meteorology booklet at the beginning of the year and organized several events encouraging young people to choose a scientific career.

Young scientists have responded back with questions on career opportunities at WMO.

WMO is always looking for energetic, passionate, motivated individuals to join its team. The WMO website provides information on open vacancies in various scientific fields of expertise. Vacancy notices provide information regarding the qualifications and experience required to possibly start a successful career and explain the benefits of working at WMO. Young people should take the time to review open vacancies and find out if their current qualifications and experience align with those needed.

WMO scientists demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and good analytical skills, are self-motivated and have a strong commitment to supporting WMO Members in their area of expertise. If you have a keen interest in and an understanding of policy issues, have already acquired some experience at the national and/or international levels and desire to work in a multicultural team, WMO vacancies notices can be found at http://public.wmo.int/en/about-us/employment.
