Support to the Republic of Georgia on Agricultural Meteorology

A team of experts from WMO and the Meteorological Services of Romania and Turkey visited the Republic of Georgia from 21 to 25 April to review the status of their agrometeorological service and develop recommendations.

With the staff of the National Hydrometeorological Service, especially those from the Agricultural Meteorology Unit, they discussed the available data, databases and bulletins and prepared an overview of possible improvements to operations.

The team also met with Ministry of Agriculture representatives to discuss how to improve the communication of weather and climate information to the agricultural sector and more effective drought monitoring and management, and to review the institutional agreements between the ministries in the country.
