Weather experts are meeting in Honiara, Solomon Islands to discuss further improvement of forecasting and providing early warnings on severe weather such as heavy rainfall, strong winds and high waves associated with tropical cyclones and other weather events. This is organized under the WMO Severe Weather Forecast and Disaster Risk Reduction Demonstration Project (SWFDDP).

July 2016 goes on record as the hottest July ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902. The mean temperature of the month was 36.0°C. This is 2.1°C above the long-term normal. This is same as July 2012. The mean maximum temperature of the month was 39.8°C. This goes on record as the eight highest mean maximum temperatures for July since 1946.The highest temperature recorded in the month was 43.4°C set on the 20 th July at Bahrain International Airport.
