Below-normal rainfall is likely during the 2020 October – December (OND) season over the southern parts of South Asia including some parts of extreme southeastern India and most parts of Sri Lanka and Maldives, which climatologically receive good amount of rainfall during the season, according to the South Asian Climate Outlook Forum.
The SEE-MHEWS-A project will benefit the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of WMO Members from the region - that is Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine. The Project Steering Committee, composed of the Directors of the NMHSs of the WMO Member States listed above, will manage the advisory system developed under the project.

In mid-2018, WMO Members were invited to participate in the trial phase for the monthly reporting of daily climate data (DAYCLI) via the WMO Global Telecommunication System (GTS). Some 20 Members volunteered, and the trial started in January 2019.
