Mr Roy Mumu, Secretary for the Department of Transport officially launched the National Weather Service’s Strategic Plan (2019-2023). The launching event is part of the Second Workshop of the CREWS Papua New Guinea Project’s Stakeholders Consultation. The Strategic Plan is the first ever plan for the NWS. As a part of activities to commemorate the 72 nd Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Day (HMKG), BMKG has organized a unique, educational, and creative activity to create 365 streamline maps in only 1 hour 45 minutes involving 365 participants consisting of BMKG staff who are still active, lecturers, and students of BMKG School of Meteorology.

The expedition "TRANSARCTICA – 2019, the first stage" precedes the work of the international floating Observatory, planned to be deployed in the framework of the MOSAiC project (The Multi-Disciplinary drifting Observatory for the study of Arctic Climate programme). Taking into account, the scientific and practical results obtained in the expedition will contribute to the successful implementation of the MOSAiC project.
