Ilaria Gallo

Ilaria Gallo holds an academic background in Development Economics and International Cooperation, and a PhD in Geography from Lancaster University (UK), specializing in climate change science and policy.  In 2010, Ilaria joined the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Malawi where she worked as a Programme Analyst for Climate Change, facilitating the integration, implementation, financing and monitoring of climate actions into national development processes. After a year-long experience at the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC) in Italy, Ilaria joined the Green Development and Climate Programme at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in Geneva where supported the activities related to the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), focusing on skills assessment and development, training design and delivery. In 2017, Ilaria joined the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). In her present role as Scientific Officer in the Climate Services Branch, she supports the development of scientific methodologies, technical resources and country capacities for enhancing the climate science information for climate action and decision-making.
