Outhone Phetluangsy

Ms. Outhone Phetluangsy is Director-General at the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) Lao PDR. She has more than 30 years of combined professional experience in meteorological and hydrological observations, forecasting, and early warning of hydrological hazards. She also took on different crucial roles and responsibilities within:

- From October 1992- 2000 Technical officer, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology

- 2001-2007: head of unit, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology

- 2007-2011: Deputy head of technical Division, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology;

- 2012-October 2014: Head of Legislation Division, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology;

- October 2014-February 2016: Head of Investment and Cooperation Division, Department of Planning and Cooperation;

- 2016-2020: Deputy Director General, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology

- 2020-Present: Director General of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

Mrs. Outhone deals with hydrometeorological information such as weather forecasts, and water level forecasts as well as issues early warning, and dissemination warning to society to prevent and reduce damage to property and people’s lives.
