European Commission

The Commission is the EU's executive arm. It also proposes legislation to the Parliament and the Council of the EU and is steered by a group of 27 Commissioners (1 for each Member State).

The Commission is organised into policy departments, known as Directorates-General (DGs), which are responsible for different policy areas. DGs develop, implement and manage EU policy, law, and funding programmes. More than 32000 civil servants work in the Commission services.

The WMO EU Affairs office organizes both top level meetings between WMO Secretary-General and European Commissioners / Director Generals and working level interaction between WMO secretariat and the Commission services.
