The WMO EU Affairs Office in Brussels is a joint initiative of WMO, EUMETNET, EUMETSAT and ECMWF which provides European Union (EU) institutions with a single-entry point to the entire meteorological and hydrological community.

What we do

The joint liaison office aims at increasing the awareness of EU bodies on the responsibilities and capabilities of WMO, of the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services and of the European Meteorological Infrastructure (EMI) to the implementation of EU policies and programmes.

The EU Affairs office also provides WMO members and the EMI with timely information and analyses on EU initiatives, plans, programmes and legislations.

The WMO Brussels office also plays a pivotal role in the implementation of the Working Arrangement signed with the European Commission which defines priorities, areas for cooperation and modalities, to scale up the collaboration between both organisations.
