European Parliament

The Parliament is composed of 705 MePs directly elected by EU citizens who act as a co-legislators, sharing with the Council of the EU the power to adopt and amend legislative proposals and to decide on the EU budget. The Parliament work is performed both in Plenary sessions and through dedicated thematic committees.

The WMO EU Affairs office monitors the activity of the European Parliament and sets up specific WMO interventions in dedicated committee hearings.
