WMO photo competition opens for voting

02 August 2025

WMO’s calendar competition – one of its most popular annual public activities – is now open for voting.

A WMO jury of experts selected 75 finalists (because WMO marks its 75th anniversary this year) from hundreds of entries from all over the world.

The 2026 WMO Calendar focuses on the impacts of weather, climate, and water—both positive and negative—on people and livelihoods. The finalists also illustrate the power of nature and the urgent need to protect our beautiful planet from human impacts—key drivers behind WMO’s work.

Now we need WMO Members and the wider public to help choose the winning photos by liking them on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Flickr.

The WMO jury (photographers, meteorologists, scientists, and communication experts) will make the final decision on the 13 winners, based on the popular vote, technical and artistic merit, and geographical balance.

The winning photographs will feature in the WMO 2026 Calendar, be showcased on WMO’s social media channels and website, and will feature prominently in our World Meteorological Day 2026 celebrations and outreach materials.
