Time to scale up: The urgency to close the weather and climate data gap

The high-level SOFF event will launch the SOFF Action Report 2025, highlight countries’ progress, and announce new pledges that demonstrate expanding global commitment to closing the world’s most critical weather and climate data gaps.

The event will feature prominent leaders including Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Maxime Prévot; H.E. Lyonchhen Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan; Spain’s Vice-President and Minister for the Ecological Transition H.E. Sara Aagesen Muñoz; and H.E. Gustav Aitaro, Chair of AOSIS and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Palau. High-profile participants include H.E. Neale Richmond TD, Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora of Ireland; Afke van Rijn, Vice-Minister for the Environment and International Affairs of the Netherlands; and H.E. Luisa Meque, President of the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction of Mozambique, further underscoring the event’s broad and high-level support. Leaders of major international organizations will also take part, including Celeste Saulo (WMO), Inger Andersen (UNEP), Florence Rabier (ECMWF), Marcos Neto (UNDP), and Noura Hamladji (UNFCCC), reflecting the strong global backing and shared ambition that define this gathering.
