The ClimSA project seeks to support the implementation of the climate information services value chain within the ACP focus countries through provision of technical and financial assistance, and infrastructure and capacity building.
Through an ongoing ClimSA grant and under output3 – Conduct regional training events on data rescue conducted to facilitate data rescue implementation in the regional focus countries – WMO is supporting focus countries in each ClimSA region, to ensure RCCs have operational access to existing climate information produces at national level through NMHSs, including data rescue (recovery and digitalization).
Workshop objective includes providing participants with guidance on managing hardcopy meteorological records which cover cataloguing and storage.
Guidance will also be provided on digitizing data into CDMS softwares (minimum training requirements, duplicate data entry and quality control).
Advice will also be provided on imaging records with reference to hardware and software requirements, imaging procedures, cataloguing and storage.
