Dushanbe, Tayikistán

A landmark event of the 2025 International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, co-facilitated by WMO and UNESCO, this conference will champion glacier preservation to protect livelihoods, ensure water security, reduce hazards, honor indigenous knowledge, and support sustainable development for vulnerable communities.

Aims

The conference will unite global leaders, scientists, and communities to safeguard glaciers. It will advocate for urgent climate action at COP30 in Brazil, advance research and indigenous knowledge, support communities hit by glacier loss, and promote solutions like early warning systems.

Outcomes

The conference will produce:

  • Dushanbe Glaciers High-Level Declaration: Urging climate action and funding, shaping COP30 and beyond.
  • Chair’s Summary: A roadmap with insights for glacier protection.
  • Dushanbe Appeal: A unified document of conference discussions will amplify glacier preservation at global forums like the UN High-level Political Forum and UNGA Climate Week.

Join the Movement

Act for glaciers, communities, and our planet. Together, we can preserve these vital ecosystems for a sustainable future.
