Fourth Session of the Scientific Advisory Panel and Joint Meeting of the Research Board and Scientific Advisory Panel

The Fourth Session of the Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) will gather leading scientists to provide strategic, long-term guidance on emerging topics relevant to WMO’s mission. These include irreversible changes in the Earth system, the role of big data and artificial intelligence, and the future of seamless prediction and services. The session will advance progress towards developing forward-looking recommendations on these topics  to inform WMO governance and support Members’ needs.

Before this session, the SAP will participate in a Joint Meeting with the Research Board, providing a platform for cross-body collaboration on high-priority scientific themes. This joint session will help ensure coherence between strategic advice and operational research planning within the WMO system.

Related event

The Twelfth Session of the WMO Research Board, to be held on 29 and 30 September, will precede the joint meeting and focus on research implementation, programme coordination, and outcomes from Research Board task teams and WMO sponsored and co-sponsored Research Programmes.
