CREWS Central Africa second steering committee meeting and FANFAR launch workshop in Central Africa
This workshop is structured into two sessions:
Session 1: Steering Committee Briefing
This session aims to update members of the Steering Committee on the progress of the regional components of the CREWS Central Africa project and the Flash Flood Guidance System (FFGS). It will highlight key achievements, challenges encountered, and proposed solutions. The session will serve as a platform to gather strategic guidance from the committee to shape implementation priorities and define pathways for sustaining the ongoing actions. This collaborative discussion will help ensure alignment with regional goals and long-term resilience.
Session 2: FANFAR System Implementation
This session marks the launch of the FANFAR initiative in Central Africa. It will present the planned activities, implementation roadmap, the methodology adopted for deploying the system and lessons learned from the implementation of FANFAR in West Africa. The last point will offer participants valuable insights into the system’s operational use, performance, and its role in supporting accurate and timely flood forecasting. This exchange will support informed decision-making and foster cross-regional learning.
