Virtual Workshop: Gender mainstreaming across hydrometeorological services
Gender mainstreaming is increasingly recognized as essential for the design and delivery of inclusive, equitable, and effective hydrometeorological services.
The main objective of this workshop is to provide recommendations on gender mainstreaming across the WMO Commission for Weather, Climate, Hydrological, Marine, and related environmental services and applications (SERCOM). The workshop is expected to gather evidence on good practices in integrating gender into the provision of hydrometeorological services, identify challenges and highlight opportunities.
The Workshop will take place on 18 November and 25 November, and it will include the following sessions:
- 09:00 - 09:30 CET (08:00 - 08:30 UTC) - Opening Session
- 09:30 - 11:15 CET (08:30 - 10:15 UTC) - Session 2: Gender in Health, Agriculture, and Energy Climate Services
- 14:00 - 15:00 CET (13:00 - 14:00 UTC) - Session 3: Gender in Aviation and Marine Meteorological Services
- 09:00 - 10:45 CET (08:00 - 09:45 UTC) - Session 4: Gender in Hydrology and Disaster Risk Reduction
- 19:00 - 20:00 CET (18:00 - 19:00 UTC) - Session 5: Moving Forward: Integration and Collaboration
During the sessions, members of the hydrometeorological community/National Meteorological and Hydrological Services will present case studies on gender mainstreaming - including experiences, tools, challenges, or approaches - across the hydromet value chain in the various sectors.
