Three Technical workshops to progress on the development of the urban flood forecasting system (UFFS) in the 5 cities, discuss and finalize the hydrological monitoring requirements, continue on the HydroSOS status and outlook products development in the 5 countries (Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda) of the Nile Basin.
Under the framework of the Water at the Heart of Climate Action (W@HCA) project implemented in the Nile Basin countries (2023 – 2028) which is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kingdom of Netherlands, WMO is leading the EW4All pillar 2 related activities mainly to strengthen the hydro-meteorological observations, monitoring, forecasting and establishment of the early warning system. WMO in joint collaboration with the MoWE, Uganda is organizing a 5-days workshop with the national hydro-meteorological agencies, technical partners (HKV) and WHCA project partners (UNDRR, IFRC, NLRC, etc.) to progress on the development of the urban flood forecasting system (UFFS) in the 5 cities, discuss and finalize the hydrological monitoring requirements, continue on the HydroSOS status and outlook products which will be visualized under the interoperable platform (East Africa Hazard Watch) for flood monitoring and forecasting system
