The weather in Germany - Winter 2021/22 - Deutscher Wetterdienst

An extremely mild winter yet also with plenty of precipitation and much sunshine Offenbach, 28 February 2022 – The same weather pattern prevailed for nearly all the winter months of December 2021 and January and February 2022: an endless series of powerful storm depressions came in from the west over the north Atlantic and turned to the north over the British Isles. The effects of the storms were repeatedly felt all over Germany. In spite of the active influence of low pressure, the winter in Germany was very sunny. At the same time, precipitation was also above normal and temperatures were much too high. Whereas the mountains enjoyed wonderful winter conditions at times, the winter failed to materialise at all in many lowland areas. This is the summary announced by the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) after an initial analysis of the observations from its 2,000 measuring stations.
