Chinese vice premier meets WMO president

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong met with Abdulla Al Mandous, president of WMO, on 27 August 2025 in Beijing.

Liu said China will strengthen cooperation with WMO and support the United Nations Early Warnings for All initiative. He added that China will back WMO’s role in global meteorological governance and contribute to advancing high-quality weather and climate services in developing countries.
Al Mandous praised China’s achievements in the fields of meteorology, hydrology and climate, and said he looked forward to deepening cooperation with China.
The WMO president was in China to take part in the 2025 China–Arab States Expo High-quality Meteorological Development Cooperation Forum and Smart Meteorology Exhibition.
