Daniel Francisco Chapo
Daniel Francisco Chapo (born 1977) is the President of Mozambique, sworn in January 2025 after the 2024 election. A lawyer by training, he previously served as Governor of Inhambane Province and held leadership roles in provincial administration. As head of state, President Chapo plays a crucial role in directing national climate resilience and disaster preparedness policies. Mozambique is among the most climate-vulnerable countries in Africa, highly exposed to tropical cyclones and floods. His leadership is therefore central to strengthening early warning systems and mobilising international support for climate resilience.
