Ana Maria Loboguerrero
Ana Maria Loboguerrero leads the Gates Foundation’s work to support women in agriculture, improve access to nutritious and affordable foods, and advance climate adaptation and mitigation approaches. A Colombian economist, Ana Maria previously served as director of climate action at CGIAR, where she maintained close relationships with governments and partners across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Earlier, she led global policy research for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the CCAFS Latin American Regional Program. Before joining CGIAR, Ana Maria worked as the climate change coordinator at the Sustainable Environmental Development Deputy Directorate of Colombia’s National Planning Department. In that role, she led the formulation of Colombia’s Climate Change Policy, National Adaptation Plan, National Development Plan, and research agenda on climate change, and she coordinated technical support for the Colombian Low Carbon Development Strategy.
Ana Maria’s contributions include numerous high-impact projects in rural communities around the world and a long list of publications. She has a master’s degree and Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
