Research Board

The Research Board on Weather, Climate, Water and the Environment (Research Board) translates WMO strategic aims and the decisions of the Executive Council and Congress into overarching research priorities, and mobilizes international collaboration to achieve them.

Through its work, the Research Board ensures that:

  • All elements of the value cycle – from discovery science and technological development to policy and decision-making – are supported by research.
  • The scientific and technological needs of WMO Members are advanced.
  • All Members have improved access to essential science, technology, software and data; and
  • The research and translation capacities of low- and middle-income countries are strengthened.
