UN Member States Briefing - Early Warnings for ALL
The Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative, launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2022, is in its third year of implementation. Throughout 2025, significant progress has been made, including the convening of the EW4All Multi-Stakeholder Forum, engagement at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, and technical advancements such as the rollout of After-Event Reviews, simulation exercises, and the relaunch of the EW4All Toolkit. Work has also expanded into emerging areas, including artificial intelligence. Against this backdrop, the Member States Briefing provides an opportunity for delegations to take stock of progress, reflect on lessons, and consider the way forward for EW4All in the leadup to COP30 and other international agendas. The Member States briefing will be held at WMO. Purposes of meeting: The briefing aims to: • Update Member States on EW4All achievements in 2025, including key outcomes of global and regional forums. • Present technical progress in implementation, highlighting innovations, tools, and mechanisms to strengthen multi-hazard early warning systems. • Showcase Member State leadership, with presentations from both donor and implementing countries. • Facilitate interactive dialogue on how to scale up financing, partnerships, and political momentum to sustain EW4All beyond 2027. • Set the stage for upcoming milestones, including COP30 deliberations, the global MHEWS status review, and broader UN system engagement on disaster risk reduction and climate action
