The 23rd WMO/IAEA Meeting on Carbon Dioxide, Other Greenhouse Gases and Related Tracers Measurement Techniques (GGMT-2026) will take place on 21-24 September 2026 in Stellenbosch, South Africa and online. The meeting is hosted by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) and MINTEK. This meeting continues the series of technical meetings on greenhouse gas measurement techniques coordinated by WMO since 1975. This is the only global technical meeting that discusses technical aspects of the atmospheric GHG measurements and produces WMO recommendations on the way to reach the high-quality observational data. Since 1992 the meetings have been co-organized together with the International Atomic Energy Agency due to increasing use of isotopic techniques for atmospheric GHG monitoring. Recommendations of GGMTs are available in the WMO library (e.g. the most recent one https://library.wmo.int/idurl/4/69756) as serve as a reference document for the global GHG community. The recommendations are accompanied by the Measurement Guidelines ( https://library.wmo.int/idurl/4/69672) which will be also reviewed during the meeting. The meeting is conducted in a hybrid mode to ensure broad community participation.
