WMO 2027 Calendar Competition
WMO is delighted to announce the launch of its 2027 Calendar Photography Competition – one of our most anticipated annual traditions.
This year's theme, "Your Weather, Your World," celebrates the extraordinary ways weather, climate and water shape our daily lives and the world around us. Each year, photographers from around the globe help us tell this story through stunning images that capture the beauty, power and wonder of our planet, and how we interact with it. From dramatic storms and spectacular cloud formations to peaceful landscapes and everyday moments influenced by nature, we invite you to share your best photographs and your unique perspective on Your Weather, Your World.
We’re thrilled to receive entries from new participants from an ever-expanding number of countries.
The winning photographs will be featured in the printed WMO 2027 Calendar. They will also appear on the WMO website, social media platforms, public outreach materials, and prominently in our World Meteorological Day 2027 celebrations. We will also promote them among other U.N. agencies.
There’s plenty of recognition to be gained – although no financial reward!
Judging Criteria
Entries will be shortlisted by a WMO panel of judges. Entries will be judged on:
- Illustration of the theme – Your Weather, Your World
- Technical quality, clarity, and composition
- Visual impact
- Novelty and flair for the unexpected
WMO will make an initial selection of outstanding photographs based on technical and artistic merit. The shortlisted photographs will be showcased on Facebook and Flickr, giving the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite images. The competition will also be promoted across WMO and other UN social media platforms.
Following the social media vote, the WMO jury will have the final say on the 13 photos to be included in the calendar.
All shortlisted photographs will be showcased on WMO web and social media channels. It is therefore important that you include your own social media handles so that we can credit you appropriately. If you share your photos on your own social media profiles, please use the #WMOphoto hashtag.
