Member Services and Development Department

The Member Services and Development Department supports capacity development for the operation of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) through: 

  • technology and knowledge transfer,
  • education and training,
  • development of partnerships, and
  • resource mobilisation for project implementation of projects with a particular focus on developing and least developed countries.

The department facilitates the work of the WMO Regional Associations, which coordinate meteorological, hydrological, climatological and related activities of Members with support from Regional Offices. Through this work, it facilitates the identification of Members priorities, which inform the development of the WMO strategic plan and helps formulate the response of WMO in addressing Member priority needs.
