Veronica Grasso

With over 20 years of experience at national and international level, Veronica Grasso works lies at the intersection of disaster risk reduction, engineering, climate science, and climate change adaptation fields. Holding a Ph.D. in early warning systems from the University of Naples, in collaboration with prestigious institutions like UC Berkeley and Caltech, she has authored 40+ scientific publications in peer reviewed journals.

Veronica is currently serving as a Scientific and Programme Officer at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Her career includes key roles with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), where she provided technical expertise to countries facing complex disaster risks.

Recognized for her pioneering research on early warning systems, including shaping the early warning system for California, she was featured in Who's Who in America in 2010. One of her papers on early warning systems became the second-most-read article in her organization in 2025, with over 5,000 reads according to Research Gate.
