Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) Webinar Series for Panama
The webinar series planned for April 2025 will support the implementation of CAP in Panama. CAP was initially implemented by the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMPHA) in January 2025 for hydrometeorological hazards. To expand to other Alerting Authorities in Panama and to promote the use of CAP for other hazards, the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) is now being encouraged to uptake CAP.
The objective of this series is to enhance technical capacity for multi-hazard alerting using the CAP standard. The training will be supported by IMPHA and key trainers from Ecuador and Chile, countries that are implementing CAP. WMO is also working closely with key international and regional partners, including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) for these CAP training efforts. Further details on each session are provided below.
