Frequently Asked Questions on the WMO recruitment process
This page includes the most common inquiries submitted by job candidates. Please review the contents carefully and if you do not find the answer to your question, Contact the Recruitment Helpdesk.
All job applications must be submitted online in the respective job openings before the application deadline. It is not possible to submit an application after the deadline has passed or through the Recruitment Helpdesk contact form.
To see your application status, you need to log into the WMO Careers site using the same email you used to apply, and your applications and their respective status will be listed in that page.
Please note that we will not be able to provide personalized feedback about progress of specific vacancies, candidates or timelines to finalize the recruitment process.
WMO recruiters will contact you if application has been selected to advance in the selection process.
The "Apply Before" field in the job opening indicates the deadline date and time to submit your application, based on your device time zone.
For example, if your device clock is set for EST time zone and the Apply Before deadline indicates March 1, 23:59, then the date and time displayed is for EST time zone.
You can submit applications to multiple job openings. The information and attachments submitted in your last job application will not impact or overwrite the job applications submitted previously.
You cannot edit a submitted application. In order to make changes, you need to withdraw your application, then apply to the job again, making changes in the new application. The new application must be submitted before the job deadline.
To withdraw your application, you need to log into the WMO Careers page, using the Manage Profile option, and withdraw the application from there. Withdrawn applications will not be considered in the recruitment. Please note that you will not receive an email confirmation when your application is withdrawn.
Please note that it is not possible to withdraw applications if the status is "Not Retained".

For specific inquiries about work arrangements and work conditions that will apply to the selected candidate, that are not mentioned in the job announcement, you will be able to ask additional details to the recruiter or in the job interview, if you apply and are contacted by the recruiter to advance in the selection process.
For some job vacancies (eg: consultancies), you may contact the person listed as a focal point for that particular vacancy.
- You may get an error if the name does not match the signature: At the end of your application, please ensure that the name and last name entered in the “Signature” field matches exactly the first name and last name entered in your application.
- You may get an error if mandatory data is missing: In this case, please click on the error message that will point to the mandatory fields highlighted in red that you should complete.
If the error persists, please submit your support request through the Recruitment Helpdesk contact form, including job number or link to the job opening, description of the issue, and screenshot of the error.
There is no specific button to "Save as draft" the application. However, the data you entered in the job application is automatically saved, and if you exit the application without submitting it, the application remains as Draft, and you can access it later to complete remaining data and submit it at WMO Careers. After logging in, go to Manage Profile – click Profile - My Applications - identify the post – click Continue.
If you still need support to submit your job application, you can contact us through the Recruitment Helpdesk contact form, ensuring to include job number or link, description of the issue, and screenshot of any error found. To create a profile for the first time, you need to apply for an existing vacancy. From there, you can maintain and update the profile by navigating to the MY PROFILE link on the top corner. When you click on MY PROFILE, it will ask you to provide your email address, and the system will authenticate it assuming this email already exists under a candidate profile. The information provided on your application will be saved when you submit your application. Most of the information will also be reflected when you apply for the next position.
This may mean that your personal email address is included on your staff profile of your agency’s Quantum system. For example: You are UNFPA staff. Your staff profile in Quantum contains your @unfpa.org email (registered as your work email ID) and your personal @gmail.com email address (registered as home/personal email ID). When you try to apply to positions with WMO with your Gmail address, the system recognises you as current staff and re-routes you to your UNFPA Quantum employee home page account.
You have two options: you either remove your personal email from your staff profile in Quantum (go to Contact Info and edit your communication types), OR you use another personal email address that you do not have on your staff account.
Question 15 – Does WMO provide recruitment support for people with disabilities?
