Salesa Nihmei

Salesa Nihmei has over 25 years of experience in meteorology and climate services in the Pacific region. He served for 12 years with the Vanuatu Meteorological Services, including as Director for Meteorology, and for 13 years with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), coordinating meteorological activities across the Pacific. In July 2025, he was appointed as the inaugural Director of SPREP’s newly established Climate Science and Information Programme, which supports National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) in the Pacific and works in close collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
