About the Forum

In its 25th Session, ASEANCOF aims to provide collaboratively developed and consensus-based seasonal climate outlooks and related information on a regional scale to support decision-making activities which would aid in the management of climate-related risks.

This Forum, hosted by Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) in a virtual format will cover the forecast period of December 2025 - February 2026 (DJF).

In particular, ASEANCOF-25 will focus on advancing the tailoring of climate services to better meet the diverse needs of users across the ASEAN region

Regarding the Agricultural Risk Finance Facility (ARFF) mentioned in the news early this year, what hazard does it cover and will it replace the cash distribution/handouts for Timor Leste/Philippines as shown in the presentation?

The ARFF is a regional initiative jointly developed by SEADRIF and FAO with six ASEAN countries. It is not a direct replacement for cash distributions or humanitarian handouts, such as those used in anticipatory action programmes in Timor-Leste or the Philippines. Rather, it aims to complement and strengthen national systems by building a sustainable, pre-arranged financing mechanism for agricultural risks. Currently, SEADRIF and FAO are conducting pre-feasibility assessments (and consultations in each of the countries) and work with countries to align on vision and objectives. These studies will assess gaps, needs, and appropriate implementation arrangements and funding flows to unlock and inform climate finance investments.

How updated is the data in the PRISM portal? It was noted that the 10-day rainfall product was only available on the 1, 11 and 21st day of each month. It would be great if it is a moving 10-day aggregate each day.

WFP uses CHIRPS observed rainfall data on the same timeline you referenced and add 10-day forecasts when available. For example, the prism now displays the last 10 days of October. Currently, high-resolution daily rainfall data limits our ability to update a 10-day moving window each day.
