The Steering Committee of Global Air Quality Forecasting and Information System is responsible for developing and implementing an action plan to guide the GAFIS initiative in line with its short- and medium-term objectives. It promotes the establishment of best practices for air quality forecasting and monitoring services, including their evaluation and presentation through various approaches. The committee also conducts and maintains assessments of regional and global air quality forecasting and information systems to identify gaps in service provision, and supports capacity-building efforts in regions where air quality services remain insufficient.
